New vs. Old

Why do kids have to wear their brand new clothes out to play in the dirt? Is it a biological compulsion or are they all just plain crazy? Will they eventually grow out of it? At least by the time they are 16? Please, someone tell me yes.

For example, Anna got some new clothes for her birthday from Grandma Kathy. She begged me to let her wear them yesterday. She said "I promise I will stay in the house." Yeah, right. But I gave in like a sucker 'cause she is just so darn cute. An hour later, one of her friends came over and she was headed outside. I headed her off at the pass and made her change into some old clothes after some crying and whining. Along the lines of "I promise I won't get dirty." She actually didn't get too dirty but I know that the second she steps out of the house in new clothes, she would be covered head to toe in dirt.

All the kids do this to me. Beg and whine and cry until I give in and then come home muddy/dirty/wet or spill something down their front at lunch.

Of course, the opposite is also true. They put on their oldest, rattiest clothes when going out somewhere nice or to school. Keiffer puts on old t-shirts that are stained, have holes in them and are just plain too small to go to school. Then he wears his nice polo shirts out to play. Last week, I noticed his shirt had a big hole in the back. The next day, he wore another shirt with a hole in it. Of course, I noticed the holes when he came home from school.

Please, please tell me they grow out of it eventually!

Anna-isms

In honor of her birthday.

While trying to buckle a seatbelt
“I can’t concentrate when you are talking.”

“That is hilarious”

When she does something wrong
“I’m grounded.” and then she sends herself to her room and crawls into her bed.

“Meanie meanie pants ‘n feanie”

"Crowns" instead of crayons.

Hoje Anna completa 4 anos e para a nossa surpresa, a aniversariante quis como presente sair de compras. Depois de 3 horas e $115.00 voltamos com as roupas e sapatos ela escolheu por si mesma. Aqui algumas fotos novas.

No more soccer!!

Soccer is officially over. Keiffer and Becca both played this year so since the beginning of March I have been driving all over Provo three to four days a week. Keiffer had games on Tuesdays and Saturdays and practices on Thursdays. Becca had games on Wednesdays and Saturdays and practices on Tuesdays. The games were after school through dinner time during the week and in the morning on Saturdays. Am I a bad mom 'cause I didn't make it to every game (let alone the practices)? Well, at least the kids were there, even if I wasn't. Becca's coach was our friend and neighbor up the street so I was able to call and get them to take her if I couldn't go(or didn't feel like going). In my defense, we have had a really cold and wet spring and sometimes I didn't want to take Giulia and the other small kids out in the cold.

Keiffer is doing really well this year. He is really starting to get the idea of how to play as a team. They did great. They were 7-0-1. The last game was the one they tied and it was really hard fought. Becca's team was not so lucky. The ended up 2-6-0. Their last game only 2 girls from the other team showed up so they forfeited. Becca's team just scrimaged and had fun.

Next year we will probably have 3 soccer players. Camilla has said several times that she wants to play as well. Luckily, first and second grades play on the same team so I would still only have 2 sets of games and practices since Becca will be in 2nd grade and Camilla in 1st.

I am now officially a soccer mom!

But Mom, everybody else is doing it!

Everybody else is doing it, so I thought I would give it a shot. I wanted to start a blog about my kids (cause, lets face it, I'm really boring) so that all the friends and family could see how they are growing and changing.

Back in January, Camilla and Anna were helping me make some banana bread. Camilla wished she had a chef's hat and Robson just happened to have one from way back when he worked at a hotel. So here are some pictures I took of them and also Giulia (before she was walking btw).
